Going around in circles

There may be times when you're struggling with a situation or circumstance and feel trapped in an endless cycle, unable to make progress.

Focus on what remains within your control, such as how you respond to the problem. You might have trouble controlling your thoughts, feelings, the actions of others or events that occur, but you can control your own actions and how you respond.

When it feels like you're going around in circles, you still have options.

  1. Keep doing what you're doing; allow more time and patience.

  2. Stop or pause for a while and take a rest.

  3. Move faster, try harder or make quicker choices.

  4. Move slower; take longer to think and process the situation.

  5. Change direction and approach the situation from a different perspective or point of view.

  6. Give up and try something different - It sounds easy. Still, it might be the hardest option because it can be difficult and even painful to detach from something you've invested in and unsettling to try something new that requires you to think and move differently from what you're used to. Still, it might be healthier, more enjoyable or more bearable than the current situation.
